Schedule

The following is the current list of scheduled events for Greyhounds in Gettysburg 2014. Note: The schedule may change as we get closer to the event date. Check back often to see the latest details.

There will be a First Aid Station open on Friday and Saturday at the Expo Center, and it will be staffed during our open times with a veterinarian, Metzger Animal Hospital. We also have an emergency vet clinic on call after hours.

There is a Gettysburg Town Trolley that runs from the Outlet Mall to downtown to the Eisenhower Hotel and to the battlefields all day every day, and the trip is free, but dogs are NOT allowed on the trolley.

Event Long Activities

Allstar Expo Games Center  more...
@Allstar Expo Center
A-la-carte tickets are available for the following activities:
  • Laser Tag - $7
  • Go Karts - $6
  • Mini Golf - $5
A 2-hour all-inclusive special for $20 will also be available Friday through Sunday.
Doggie Daycare  more...
@Allstar Family Fun Center
We will have supervised doggie daycare during vending hours on both Friday and Saturday (donations to the host group are appreciated) and muzzles are recommending. We are asking that you limit your babysitting time to no more than 3 hours. The location will be just outside of the large entrance doors in the old batting cage. There's plenty of room in there, there's shelter, and we will also be putting down lots and lots of blankets and water bowls. The event will be hosted by the Sighthound Underground on Friday and Fast Friends Greyhound Adoption on Saturday.
Off-leash Play Areas  more...
@Allstar Expo Center Activities Field
We will have a large fenced area in the open field behind the Expo Center for off-leash play, and it will be open the entire weekend for your enjoyment. On Saturday during vending hours, that area will be hosted by Keystone Greyhounds. Because the area will not be supervised at all times, we will be posting rules and then periodically monitoring the space to be sure that people are being considerate. Your dog MUST be muzzled at all times in that area no matter what breed the dog happens to be. Bring your dog's muzzle if you have one. There will be a few extras available but don't take that for granted. You must be with your dog in the off-leash play area and please pay attention to his/her behavior. And it goes without saying -- clean up after your dog. There will be hundreds of poop bags around; please use them.
Kathy, the Tooth Fairy  more...
Kathy, the Tooth Fairy, will be setting up a clinic during GiG, all the way from California, and will be set up in our First Aid area. You will have the opportunity to have your dog's teeth cleaned by the best! Kathy will be offering ultra-sonic, anesthetic-free teeth cleaning throughout the weekend. If you wish to have your dog's teeth cleaned, contact Kathy directly to setup an appointment, ask questions, or determine the fee. Email: pettoothfairy@gmail.com or Call: (310) 835-1919. Visit www.houndstoothdental.com and see for yourself the difference it can make and learn about the procedure.
Poop Stations  more...
Speaking of poop, we will have several dog walk areas around the outside of the hotel that will be cleaned on a regular basis. You have poop bags in your Go Bag, but there will also be rolls of them everywhere. Please, please clean up after your dog(s). This is vitally important if we are to be welcomed back. Also, please try to walk your dogs outside so they do their business before coming into the Expo Center and/or hotel. We will have clean-up crews but they can't be everywhere at once. We're depending on you to pay attention to what your dog is doing. If you are staying at another hotel, and you see someone else being inconsiderate, please clean up after them. We want to leave only a good impression no matter where we are in town.
Handicapped Parking  more...
The spaces directly in front of the Expo Center are for handicapped parking this year. If you have a handicapped sticker, or if you have a dog that is handicapped, feel free to use those spaces. Again, please be considerate of others who need help and leave those spaces open for them. We will have those spaces marked, so please watch for them.
Seating  more...
While there will be some seating available in the Activities area and some picnic tables outside, it might be more convenient for you to bring your own folding chair. There is plenty of room if you want to haul an x-pen for your dog(s) as well. If you want to make a real day of it, bring a pop-up and set up your own little picnic spot! The Expo Center has acres and acres of manicured lawns, so feel free to use it to its full advantage.
Food Vendors  more...
This year, we have added food vendors. In addition to the Expo Center Snack Bar and Fast Food Break, we will have:
  • Moe's Soul Food (Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning) will be parked by the large entrance doors
  • Mr. Piggles Roasts (Friday and Saturday) will be parked by the large entrance doors
  • Chicken Barbeque (Saturday from 11am to 2pm in the pavilion behind the Expo Center)
  • Eisenhower Hotel Picnic Basket -- order at the hotel and bring along with you. Check at the snack bar in the hotel, which will also open early for the event, 7am!
We are asking them all to provide some vegetarian and/or vegan selections on their menus, although what they serve will be up to them.

Only a limited number of people can go on the tour at any given time, so there will be a sign-up sheet at the front desk of the Eisenhower Hotel for tours at 9:30, 10:00, and 10:30. Social Events 8:00am 9:30am Battlefield Walk #1: Culp's Hill  more...
This year, we have been given permission to park on the Park's avenues, being careful to pull as far to the right as possible while still keeping all four wheels on the pavement. We will meet at Spangler's Spring (tour stop 13) but will be parking on East Confederate Avenue. Take East Middle Street, and East Confederate will be on your right. Our guide has a dark green Mini-Cooper, and everyone should park behind her; if you pass her car, you'll have to drive all the way around to get back into that spot, so take care. It's a long road but keep driving until you see cars parked. She will be there one hour before we start so she can manage the parking.

On this walk, we will visit a very important area of the Field, Culp's Hill. We will see remnants of Breastworks built by the soldiers during the battle and perhaps a burial trench. This walk will be fairly steep.
