20th Annual Greyhounds in Gettysburg®
41 days until GiG!
Greyhounds in Gettysburg®, or GiG as it is affectionately called, is a four day annual event full of vendor shopping, educational seminars, social activities, and more! Thanks to the dedication of countless volunteers, GiG has become the largest greyhound reunion in the country with more than 1,000 sighthounds and their people arriving in historic Gettysburg the last weekend of April from all over the globe.
Greyhounds in Gettysburg® was started in 1998. In 2013, Nittany Greyhounds took over coordination of the event. Since then, the event has been moved indoors and continued to expand into the event it is today.
Designed to raise awareness and support greyhound adoption efforts, all proceeds from the event benefit greyhound adoption activities. No member of the planning committee or any volunteer receives any compensation.
Most of our events, including vendor shopping and seminars, are centered around the Allstar Family Fun Center, located at 2638 Emmitsburg Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325. Other events are located at off site venues kind enough to host us and our dogs. For a list of all venues and addresses, please see our schedule or event booklet.
The town of Gettysburg is teeming with history and there are many resources available for tourism and education. The National Park Service offers two great pages on Gettysburg and The Eisenhower National Historic Site. Free podcasts are available to cover many of the important aspects of the Battle of Gettysburg. The Visitor Center & Museum can also provide immersive history of the town and the battle, in addition to providing other assistance you may need while in Gettysburg.
