It won’t be long – Greyhounds in Gettysburg 2014 is coming quickly!
GiG is now the largest greyhound reunion in the country! In 2013, more than 850 people pre-registered, and at least 1,000 of you came to socialize with other greyhound lovers from all around the country!
We are now working on our 2014 plans. You should know that we are working with our contacts in Gettysburg to introduce you to new venues, new speakers, and new options for food, vendors, and other events. We will be rolling out our plans as they are put into place, so if you haven't liked us on Facebook yet, you should do so. Not to worry, we will be posting updates here as well and sending email blasts too.
Thanks to all of you who answered our survey and those who sent us so many thoughtful and useful suggestions and ideas to make our event better. We are taking all of them into consideration and we will do as much as we can to correct any issues and to entice even more of you to come to Gettysburg for a one-of-a-kind greyhound experience!
Just a quick note about the Eisenhower Hotel: We have booked the entire Eisenhower Wing of the hotel, which most of you know is part of the Expo Center Complex, and half of the rooms are already sold. Yes, last year this hotel was in the midst of an ownership change when we arrived and as a consequence, there were lots of untrained staff, reservation issues, and room problems. Many of you vowed to never stay there again, and we completely understand that sentiment. But just as many of you had no issues and have even already made your reservations for 2014. We just want to reassure you that the big issues have been resolved. They’ve had a whole year to train, renovate, and work on their software systems. They came through the 150 in asking you to give the Eisenhower another chance. Their rates for 2014 will be a fantastic $84/night for Friday and Saturday and $76 for Thursday night. Dogs will only be allowed in the Eisenhower Wing; Aspire will only be available to those not bringing dogs. We also know that lots of people like to stay in town, and we have several blocks of rooms to accommodate those people, with special rates, too... please go to our Where to Stay page for complete rate and contact information for our featured hotels.
